"The average hip replacement in the USA costs $40,364. In Spain, it costs $7,371. That means I can literally fly to Spain, live in Madrid for 2 years, learn Spanish, run with the bulls, get trampled, get my hip replaced again, and fly home for less than the cost of a hip replacement in the US." -

(34,136 posts)Though many go to India, Mexico or some Caribbean island nations for it. Spain would be nice.
I could have gotten my knees replaced for less than my out of pocket with insurance by going out of the US. One reason my out of pocket was so high was that I preferred to use the best orthopedic clinic in the area and they were out of network. I would not have been comfortable going to some unknown place out of the country even if it might have saved me money. I did check into it and thought about it for a while.

My wife finally talked me into removing a few spots removed on my face that I was sick of looking at for the past 5 years. It was fairly painless, though the smell was not pleasant.
