My cat walks across my laptop when I'm on it, and the screen goes black.

She must be walking on some key(s) that cause that, but I don't know which.

Can anybody tell me what gives? This is a Dell Inspiron N5050.

Maybe she is stepping on a key that turns that on. You could also get this app: http://www.bitboost.com/pawsense/

It locks the keyboard when it detects "cat-like" typing.

It is usually FN & F3 or FN & one of the other function keys.
