A few pics from a somewhat impromptu brief vacation at Sanibel (FL)

My wife and I went to FL to visit my brother and mom - and decided to finally check Sanibel out for a few days (this was last week) - it wasn't Florida warm, but warmer than here!

of a Christmas vacation in Florida, by the pool. A woman was trying to tan herself by the pool in her bikini, and it was clearly too cold for that. The rest of us had on much more clothing than that.

She suddenly sat up and said "I don't know why I am trying so hard. When I get back to New York, everyone will only see me from the neck up."

................................

and story #2, at Sanibel Island in March, many years ago, wading in shallow waters. I looked up, and there were dolphins swimming in this shallow water, maybe 10 feet away from me. It was a special moment.

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy, has zoom, not a 'big' camera, but does nicely @ my cottage, where Mother Nature does really well!

The state has an extraordinary natural beauty.

Sunsets over the Gulf can be truly awe-inspiring.

Gorgeous sunsets.

Did you see the Pelican trees? I'd never seen so many pelicans land in a single tree!

And the shells! I brought back some beauties!

Not so many pelicans - we biked in the Ding refuge, which is where I got the Yellow Crowned Night Heron and osprey pics.

Lots of shells, but not as many out of the ordinary, from what we understand.

we will certainly go back some day....ice cream at Pinocchios and Rosie's, omelets at Over Easy..nice dinner at Cips stood out food-wise.

and sticker shock meant that we will be visiting Sanibel now and then when we can....like Ocracoke - we are priced out of it by so many factors it is not worth calculating! Run down foreclosures in the multiple millions....location, location, location!
