Olympics: Hand-picked golden girl Ashley Wagner finishes behind girl who fell.

It's safe to say American figure skater Ashley Wagner was expecting a better score than that. Her face—along with all pretense—dropped after seeing the judges' thoughts on her short program in ladies team competition.

For the record, Wagner received a score of 63.10, putting her in fourth place at the time behind Mao Asada, a Japanese skater who fell during her routine. Wagner assumed she'd get a much better result. And now, she's internet-famous for her disappointment.

To give another skater who actually fell a higher score is ludicrous.

I haven't even been watching the olympics but last night we turned it on for a few minutes and saw these performances. Wagner was robbed. I even thought the 15 year old was, while amazing, not as good as Wagner. The 15 year old was a little sloppy and didn't hold the elegant positions that Wagner and the Canadian skater before her did.

There is such a thing as being TOO technical. But she's young enough to get it right for next Olympiad. (I think the Russian ice dancing couple had the same problem -- I'm VERY glad that they came in third).

Even without Mother Russia looking over the judges' shoulders, I think the Japanese skater should have beaten her if she hadn't fallen.

Very few women ever tried triple axels in competition.

I know you are supposed to stoic faced, but I can't fault her for a few seconds of emotion.

she's been working at this for 15 years+, much if it through a grueling training regimen, so if she shows some emotion in the moment, I don't have a big problem with that.

Scores and placing?

Was it figure skating or a different sport?

Ms. Nagasu placed ahead of her in the US championship last month, and should have had the Olympics spot over Wagner.

For the record, I certainly understand WHY you'd be pissed about it. But you didn't seem to mind getting on the Olympic team you'd fallen down yourself -- twice! YOU should have been the alternate, and I'm sorry to say that I think you skated like one: while I agree that your score should have been higher, I think the Japanese skater was better even with her fall.

I wouldn't have minded all your media hype and endorsements if you hadn't been such a legend in your own mind. And I would tell you "better luck next Olympics" -- but thanks to your profane "ugly American" sore loser reaction, you can forget about the judges cutting you any slack on your scores ever again.

You've made fools of those who inundated you with the hype and endorsements that Gracie Gold was better qualified for. And now you're on record as being unable to out-skate someone who fell down.

You have reaped exactly what you have sowed, Miss Tim Tebow On Skates.
