What is the stupidest thing you have done

Last edited Sun Feb 23, 2014, 12:32 AM - Edit history (2)

lately. I bought really nice pineapple and vanilla perfume for $40. I usually don't wear perfume or spend that much but I love it so got it for myself for christmas. I noticed I would sneeze and itch when ever I wore it. Didn't want to waste it so I gave it away. Person I gave it away to told me it said 'air freshener' on the bottom of the bottle!!!! That is right..... I spent $40 on air freshener and didn't know it. LOL!

In my defence it was in a glass bottle. It certainly didn't look like air freshener. The cap and nossle were dainty.

whew, nothing lately, at least not overly incriminating. Though, I was going to suggest to you the other day: pineapple and vanilla smoothie.

growing up in a neighbourhood that didn't salt the roads in winter, but put gravel on them leaving good snow coverage kids used to do that. And add to that a boys private school and you got lots of opportunistic bunkers as you drove along the snowy streets. I never did it myself. I don't like machines of any kind. My mom, when bunkers used to latch onto our car, would zigzag the car to get them off.... I would never have done that either. Very dangerous.

This was done in the patking lot of the local mall. Sadly, it seems that mall likely does not have enough traffic for such nefarious activity.

I blew my one chance to easily relocate to a more civilized nation. Biggest regret in my life too.

dumbest thing I ever did. I mean...NO ONE leaves them! I would have had credentials for all the races, been a part of their restoration program for their extensvie antique car collecion (they have more than twice the number of cars on public display in their musem) and been in charge of their Indy Racing League transporters.

Really stupid.

I was eating some pineapple and talking to a friend about how I really like pineapple but the burning and stinging sometimes lasts all day... so yeah, apparently it doesn't taste like that to everyone.

so you may not be alone in liking the flavor + burning sensation

be careful, if it is really an allergy it might start to get dangerous. I suspect it is more that you have a tender mouth and it is the enzymes natural to pineapple that are causing your irritation (pineapple makes a good marinade and for the same reason can't be used fresh in jello/gelatine as it prevents it from setting.)

but it was early spring and the ice was getting thin. We made it to the island and explored it but on the way back the ice proved too thin to hold us and we fell into the icy water. We kept trying to grab onto the ice to pull ourselves out but it kept breaking. This went on for quite a few feet and we got exhausted just keeping afloat and trying to pull ourselves up. Finally, we found a thicker stretch of ice just in time. The ride back home on our bikes in soaking wet clothes was pretty cold. I could talk about two years later, when my friends and I lowered ourselves into a cave pit on a rope and the rope became so slimy with mud that we couldn't pull ourselves out again but I think I'll stop there.

that is a great story

the stupid I did today was jump in the car and drive 6 miles to the Post Office to put up my little "found cow" poster that I made. Of course when I got there I realized THAT was what I was forgetting as I walked out the door with the odd feeling that I was forgetting something.

goint to the post office is a 6 mile trip, but the return trip is about twice that as one must go to the next exit west to turn around and come back to the gate. So I blew it off and will go again in the morning.

by heating up butcher knives on the oven burners, to melt through the ice. Wanted to check if the knives were hot enough, but I had one in each hand so I couldn't just grab the blade to feel. (Hands were full). Did the next best thing. Laid the blade on my tongue for a minute.

It was hot. Very hot. Don't heat up metal blades on the stove then put them on your tongue.

or chronologically?

I can tell you one that happened recently with my 74-year-old aunt. She decided she was going to re-do her bathroom in different shades of blue but, being on a fixed income, she had to do it on the cheap. So she goes into Catholic Charities Thrift Store and sees a beautiful blue "vase." She brought it home, proudly took it out of the bag to show her husband (the ex-biker) who proceeded to laugh his ass off. He said, "You HAVE to take a picture of that and text it to LTH." So she sends me the picture and I laughed until I cried -- it was one of the most beautiful blue bongs I'd ever seen. Double funny in that she bought it from Catholic Charities. I broke the news to her that her new "vase" might get her arrested in St. George, Utah.

Not too long ago I was making a batter which called for an egg. Without thinking, I cracked open the egg, threw the insides down the garbage disposal and threw the shells in the batter.

That aunt story cracked me up!

I'm glad you started this thread, applegrove. For me it's a "feel good " thread. I'm not the only one!

I was painting in my kitchen and I was up on one of those ladders that has the the tray thingie you can put up to put your tools on, etc.

I noticed the clips on the painting tray and then I noticed there was a place to clip them on to the step ladder.

Wowie kazowie. I'm only a baby boomer and I just figured that out.

So proud of myself that I was able to clip that painting tray to the stepladder thingie.

Anyway, I finished painting and forgot I'd clipped it so when I grabbed the paint tray to lift it off, the liner came loose, fell on the floor, and I had leftover paint on my kitchen floor.

Fortunately there wasn't much paint left and the cleanup went fairly easy.

But
