Carl Kasell to step down from 'Wait Wait'
It's a sad day in the (admittedly small) world of radio comedy news quizzes.
NPR's Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me! game show will soon be without its Official Judge and Scorekeeper, Carl Kasell.
Kasell, a 50-year broadcast veteran who spent more than three decades with NPR, announced he would retire this spring.
For decades, Kasell was the voice of Morning Edition.

(70,706 posts)I remember Jon STEWART's first TDS when he looked pleadingly into the camera and asked that all of us give him a chance, the same as when Aresenio did his own first show.
And soon STEWART made it his own and I never followed KILBORN over into the network slot and years later when KILBORN was fully settled into the late night slot I looked in a couple of times and could not see anything at all that had made me like him in TDS.
And I've "evolved" away from STEWART. I liked it when/most-of-the-time he was skewering wingnuts and thought he was trying to be "fair" when he sometimes skewered Dems/Libs, but there was always something puzzling about him for me: When he threw his hissy fit about Crossfire and it got cancelled. And all those similar occasional fits/preaching-down sessions. Finally, when he staged his BecKKK revival, where he revealed himself to be Why-can't-we-all-get-along and followed up with his smoozing O'LOOFAH, it tore it for me with him. It's COLBERT and MAHER for me.
