Couple attacked by cat say they'll get it help

http://www.sfgate.com/news/us/article/Couple-attacked-by-cat-say-they-ll-get-it-help-5307513.php

Oregon owners of a 22-pound housecat who trapped them in their bedroom after attacking their baby say they're not giving up on their pet and are getting it medical attention and therapy.

Two days after police arrived to subdue the 4-year-old part-Himalayan cat, owner Lee Palmer of Portland says he's taking the feline to a veterinarian. A pet psychologist also is due at the house to see the cat, named Lux.

Palmer says the animal attacked after the 7-month-old child pulled its tail. The baby wasn't injured.

On the 911 call, the cat can be heard screeching in the background as Palmer says in a panicked voice: "He's charging us. He's at our bedroom door." Palmer also tells the dispatcher the cat has a "history of violence."

The cat may need to be permanently relocated, but unless they know someone kitty probably wouldn't stand a chance with her history. Giving her a chance to improve is her best chance at a long and happy life.

Good job, Mr. Palmer and family. I wish you luck.

Add in the fact that the guy kicked the cat in retaliation for its strike at the baby and you have a toxic mix imho. Kicking any animal, in my book, means you should not be a pet owner.

Re-homing the cat will protect the cat and the baby.

I sure as hell would kick that animal's butt, and I am against animal abuse, but this situation calls for an ass-kicking.

especially a cat's butt, will accomplish absolutely nothing. If you're not just spouting hypberbole, you're not as much against animal abuse as you think you are. Some cats (and dogs) do not tolerate children well. The best thing is to find a home for them where there are no children (at least not young ones who don't know better).

normal and you try to teach the baby not to do that.

The cat scratches the baby for pulling its tail; normal you take the cat away from the baby.

The father kicks the cat in the ass; not normal he is the asshole here.

It's the idiot owners--especially the asshole who kicked him. I would not be surprised if this wasn't the first time that poor thing was on the receiving end of such abuse. I hope that cat is re-homed. I pity the baby, because his father seems to have some anger management issues.

If someone kicked me, I'd be pissed off, too.
