The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMaking a brand new mixtape. This time - best rock songs over 10 minutes long
That's the original song.
Not a live version of an original song that they played live for 30 minutes.
I will check run times so no cheating with > 10 songs.
Here's my start:
#1 Low Spark of High Heeled Boys - Traffic (11:40)
#2 Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd (13:33 OR 12:29 depending on which parts)
#3 In my Time of Dying - Led Zeppelin (11:05. Never really liked Achilles Last Stand)
Ok post your song selection here!

(95,337 posts)In the end they only did 3 songs over 10 minutes - Achille's Last Stand, In my Time of Dying and Carouselamba. But live they could easily make "Dazed and Confused a 30 minute song even though it's 6:25 on LZI

(95,337 posts)I would put that #2.
Most people would say Achilles Last Stand is the best of the LZ 10 minutes song but personally I can't stand that song. The only issue with Carouselambra is that it was on the other side of 'In Through the Outdoor' (we're talking Vinyl and Cassette) and most of the times I love the first side since Fool in the Rain is one of my top 5 favorite songs and In the Evening is also a fav. Those are side 1 so I rarely listened to side 2 of the album.

(8,069 posts)Though the rule is "no live cuts," there are no studio versions of "Machine Gun" (not that I know of, anyway) so I humbly submit it as an exception.

(5,435 posts)My favorite track from the '80s... I could have danced to this for ~hours~...
I later discovered that it was produced by Jim Steinman -- the guy who wrote all of MeatLoaf's best songs, plus assorted other hit songs in the '70's - '90's
And egads, Patricia Morrison (the bassist) is so. friggin'. hot.
