Mixed feelings about the new Captain America movie

More of a spy movie with Superheroes, Captain America - The Winter Soldier was action packed with a better than average yet predictable plot. Falcon was a Will Smith wannabe (they should have just cast him.) Robert Redford was flat. Chris Evans seemed bored. Yet, it's easily the best of the Marvel Studios Marvel hero movies. I thought most of the movies leading up to the Avengers were duds (Iron Man I and the first Cap American being the exceptions.) The Avengers, while enjoyable, wasn't all that.

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow was the best part of the movie. Smart, kick ass and sexy. I'd rather see her anchor her own movie than see her in another supporting role.

... and Cap gets shot pretty badly. One agent gets cut/stabbed.

My 8 year old girl was fine with it.

Pure escapism. Totally different from the first one (which I loved too) since it takes place now. I saw it last night in 3D with three friends. All of us love Captain America. I liked the plot - it's full of shadow agency stuff, spy versus spy etc.

Lucy & Under the Skin. Maybe if those films do well commercially, the good people at Marvel will deign to run a good Black Widow movie.

Hell, after they bankrolled Blade III and The Fantastic Four Part Deux, I can't imagine how Marvel turns down any script.
