I'm push starting my car in 100 degree weather

on the collection of potholes and cow dung that is allegedly a street, while dodging rickshaws and monkeys.

What are you guys up to?

Also, parents: make sure your kids know how to push start a car.

have to wait until the snow finishes melting and excess water drains from the side yard before we start getting the garden ready for spring planting

I have had 3 or 4 old trucks that had to start that way. I learned to find the right place to park. Mind the dung! Full speed ahead!

The big vegetable gardens require a different sort of prep.

My husband came around and saw the guys and I laboriously raking out last fall's leaves, crap and underbrush. He goes into the house and comes out with the matches and torches the sixth garden's leaves and underbrush.

Poof!

6/6 gardens cleared out.

What is it with guys and fire?

(my kids are farm kids and can push-start anything. Learned to drive on manual transmissions)

The burning kills the weed seeds. Raking them around spreads them. Signed, a guy who burned his old gardens weeds.
So when you say "big" what do you mean?

In the winter, in Chicago. In the summer, in Chicago. In the rain, in Chicago. Never a good season to push start in Chicago.

Longed the filly for the first time this season. Trying to gather the energy to start double-digging for the first direct seed crop, but may postpone that until tomorrow. Instead I will go back to raking manure.
