The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI made a kicking hot smoothie with spinach, ginger, tomatoes, celery, hot sauce,
Worcestershire sauce and an olive oil. And a handful of blanched almonds. Two tsp of hot sauce. 1 of Worcestershire. Some lemon juice. Oh man. THIS IS IT!! It is delicious. I've cracked the code. And no sugar except what is in the tomatoes.

(118,683 posts)ham. We usually have fruit for dessert. I had a few cookies today. I certainly need to improve what I eat. But I get up late and stay up late so I'm trying to eat better in the evening...seeing as how I'm asleep for 10 hours. And this smoothie is definitely something I will look forward too.
That's really not bad.
We recently found out that my wife is a diabetic so we've been watching our carbs. I am not a diabetic, but I eat like her to make things easier for her and also because it's more healthy for me. I basically eat the type of foods I like while keeping total carb intake down to 180 a day. My wife tries to keep it down to 140.

(118,683 posts)they are celiac. Meat, healthy fats and vegetables. There are all sorts of recipes for interested fresh vegetable dishes online. I'm just not that disciplined. But yeah, I've been looking for a way to do a no fruit (or no sugar) vegetable smoothie for months.

(51,122 posts)Typically worcestershire sauce isn't vegetarian. But you can get it vegetarian at natural foods stores.

(118,683 posts)a way to eat the veggie smoothie with no fruit or sugar (which I was told would make it impossible to lose weight since fruit in a smoothie acts exactly like apple juice and spikes your insulin...creating fat).

(46,436 posts)The hot sauce really gives it a kick. I like to squeeze a lime into my vegetable smoothies, too. And cilantro, if I have it.

(118,683 posts)half a lime though.

(19,926 posts)I do make a green smoothie every morning with kale, chard, cucumber, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple, hemp protein powder, chia seeds and flax seeds. And water.
I started with just a little greens to get used to it now it's mostly greens. Still working on cutting down the fruit. My main sugar problem is with cookies though. And it's all mental. As soon as I tell myself I need to cut back on the sugar I find myself buying cookies.

(23,550 posts)Greens bananas berries some oats chia seeds or flax seeds. Tastes really good. I can't imagine doing a smoothie without fruit.

OMG it was amazing. I love fresh ginger and fresh beets - the apple and carrots gave it a nice sweetness.
No sugar. Just fresh fruits and veggies. Kept me full for hours.

Another perfect drink is a SweetSalty Lemonade.
*a wedge of Asian picked lemon
*few squeezes of Lime juice
*sugar or ur favorite sweetener.
*COLD COLD COLD water.
Mash up the pickled lemon wedge a little.
