because there were tons of multi-colored tulips and ducks. And Alexis was in her Easter dress, looking all cute and sweet -- was a perfect melding of what is, and what was. Soon as I get the pics, I will post.
Perfect day for Gram.
Edited to add a few pics:

Lovely pictures to remember the day!
She is, of course, the apple of my eye. (date me much? )

(18,186 posts)Those babies cheer us up and keep us "young."
Just talked to one of my adopted grandbabies on the phone. He's getting so smart!
They grow up so fast, though. Enjoy that sweet baby girl while you have her! Pretty soon she'll be wanting to borrow the car!

(18,186 posts)She won't allow his pic on the intertubes and I respect that.
he's almost three and cute as a bug, though.
I'm one of his 'grannies'
When I show up, I must instantly chase him around the kitchen island. He will smile at me and take off running, because that's granny's job - to chase him. And we take long walks, because that's granny's job, too. Though I haven't seen him recently, I hope to visit this weekend.
And I always have the patience when everyone else's has worn thin

(9,581 posts)LOL! Sounds delightful - 3 is such a great age. A "real" kid, not really a baby any more. They are learning by leaps and bounds at 3.

(18,186 posts)My kids will tell you I was not the most patient parent with the oldest ones. But when you see how fast they grow up, and how short their childhoods really are, you learn to appreciate their youngest selves.
"We grow too soon old und too late Smart" said a plaque at my Grandma's house.
Aint it the truth! I wish I could tell all parents of young kids to savor these moments because they will be out and on their own before you can imagine. It seems like you will be bogged down in snotty noses and diapers and laundry and cooking detail forever, but it really does fly by, and every parent probably wishes they could have a do-over for one reason or another.
And yes, three is a delightful age. He is learning new words every day. The apple of my eye lol

(6,011 posts)enjoying Springtime with you!
That's a cute dress, too! I had a boy, which saved me from much time spent making dresses.
When I see some of the cute clothes in stores for little girls, like the one your granddaughter is wearing, I would find it hard to resist sewing similar dresses. I did make two for my niece when she was a toddler; her mom saved them and my niece's daughter wore them 26 years later!

(9,581 posts)amazing that you had that ability and talent. Now that is something that can be handed down with pride.

(9,581 posts)My dad was a Sargent in the army, and we were stationed in Germany. My mom & dad ordered our Easter outfits from Spiegel catalog ... mine was a purple suit (of sorts). My parents took videos (well, I think it was 9 mm film or some such) Damn, my legs were so skinny.
Memories. That's what holidays are about. What are yours?

(6,011 posts)I went to Sunday school for the younger kids with my brother who's 13 months older, but he was wanting to talk about older stuff than Jesus, like dinosaur bones, so that didn't go over very well! I remember the Easter Parade song on the radio, and going with my mom to look for a store that sold white chocolate for my oldest brother because someone told him it didn't make acne flare up. Funny memories.
