The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI just got a graduation invitation from a co-worker of more than 20 years ago...
more specifically, for her son whom I have never met. I think I saw the former co-worker maybe 15 years ago but the only contact I've had with her is through the annual holiday letter. For years, I have included my email address and phone number, but she has never emailed me. So I think I really did LOL when I opened the envelope.
My son is graduating, too, but I have not even ordered announcements yet. I figured I would send to close family (sadly, not many!) and maybe a very few close neighbors. Not all the co-workers or casual friends who barely know my son. We get some of these every year and I just don't understand it. DO you ever get these?
I love people.

(12,153 posts)I know the reason they send them to me is because they want a money gift.

(26,117 posts)I usually ignore them, if they're from someone I barely know.

Are they trolling for presents or money? Maybe. Would it kill you to respond kindly? Probably not. Take a chance.

(50,566 posts)I did it when I graduated from high school because I thought that's what you were "supposed" to do, as my mom told me. I sent them out but I felt weird about it. Now I realize you don't HAVE to do this stuff.
