Dead or Meditating?

My wife on reading this, made some unfavorable comments concerning my "meditations" when asked to cut the lawn, hang a picture, or do some other worldly activity.

An Indian Guru's state of consciousness is now going to court. Seems his followers have put his worldly body in a cooler , insisting he is in a high state of meditation. While in this state his family has control over his 170 million$ estate.... But, if he's dead then they loose control over the purse strings.

If one believes that an individual's consciousness (call it soul, source energy - whatever you wish) continues after the physical body ceases to function, then I suppose he is in a high state of meditation, where his consciousness has left his body. In other words - he's physically dead. But that doesn't mean he has ceased to exist.

It's tricky, because either or both may be correct.

On a personal note, doing tedious chores is much easier when the mood is elevated. Meditating beforehand is critical!

If they "believe" that the Guru's consciousness still persists at some "high state," then let them demonstrate it. But if this "high state" is in every way indistinguishable from death, then he's dead.

I can imagine the alibis now: "I didn't kill her, your honor. I helped her achieve a high state of meditation."

His followers can believe whatever they wish, but a death certificate trumps everything.
