Not my taste but I've heard way worse.

I was morbidly curious and checked out some of her other songs on Youtube. I will sheepishly admit that while the lyrics of her song "Work" are just as horrific, its production value made it somewhat catchy as a song, far moreso than "Fancy".

I liked the first few, but after that, my mind got boggled.

Supposedly he's written all the way through chapter 45. It's the best / worst / best and one of the craziest stories ever conceived by man.

Obnoxious?

Definitely not. Neither the Reznor nor the Cash versions.

I filed them under the category: angry-white-boy-for-no-reason.

If you were a teenager then (as I was) it worked well with your inner angst. But it doesn't translate as well into adulthood. Which is why I think Reznor has more or less transitioned into movie soundtracks.

That said, I still pump Pretty Hate Machine on long road trips just for old time's sake and to bring back the memories.

He sought out and revered the most depressing bands. I don't mind the occasional wank-angry tune but jeez.
