(11,065 posts)I like GD for some things like current events, Latest Breaking News for news and the Lounge for some things though I wish there wasn't so much garbage in it.
My favorite group is definitely Pets. I love hearing about other peoples' pets, seeing their photos and the kooky things pets tend to do. Of course, there's also a lot of very sad stories of people losing their pets or worried about a pet's illness, but I like to be there to help in some way for people traumatized by these things having been there myself... sometimes it helps to just share your grief and know that others both understand and care. I've shed more tears in there than anywhere yet have also laughed hysterically over kooky pet stories and swooned over pet photos. And of course there's the food recalls and other pet related news or information I like to stay abreast of or share. Pets are such a huge part of peoples' lives.

(8,217 posts)I'm such a nerd.
By the way, I did ask about your name right?
There is this tale that I can't seem to finish reading called the Kalevala.
I am having a hard time finishing it, because I have to re-read it every single time to even comprehend some of it.
It is written in lyric/poem form, and their names are over 4 syllables. I have a hard time keeping up.
Kaleva
(36,298 posts)It's still in operation but I haven't stopped there in decades.
" In 1918, Henry Moilanen took over at 234 Quincy with the idea of opening a restaurant. However, he needed a name. A contest was held and the name "Kaleva" was chosen, a direct take-off from the "Kalevala" national Finnish epic poem. The newly named Kaleva Cafe quickly established a reputation for home-cooked meals. An ad in the local newspaper featured "All Home-Baking", "Fresh, Hot Pasties" and "The Finest Coffee in Hancock.""

(8,217 posts)That Finnish Epic is just something I can't seem to finish.
I am almost tempted to try to write it in story form, rather than in epic poem form.
It is ridiculously hard to comprehend.
