Don't you hate it when people say 'You just don't understand" when they know damned well you do?

I'm not even talking politics. People who use that as a lame excuse to defend a somewhat self-destructive or overly dramatized view or action that they know is irrational after you categorically point it out and the truth is uncomfortable. People like those with scatterbrain tendencies that seem all too common on my mother's side of the family.
