A real surprise after my car was worked on Wednesday

I was coming down some city streets kind of half paying attention heading to a corner. I was on the street alone and felt I might be going a little fast in a 25 zone. So I looked at the speedometer and it said 55! Holy Crap!

So I slowed way down, turned the corner and tried to stay close to the speed limit. But I was going 30 and it felt like I was crawling. I was on a street that led out of town and I had a couple of cars behind me. They seemed irritated, so I pulled over and let them go by. Something sure felt wrong, but I got back on the street and tried to keep it under the limit that was now 35.

Then it hit me - I have a digital speedometer. Could it have been changed from MPH to KMH? Was that possible? I stopped at the stop sign at the edge of town and had time to look closely at the speedometer. Yep, big as life it said KMH. Someone at the dealer's shop changed it.

So I had about 15 miles to go. Not sure what to do my first thought was to do the math conversion of kmh to mph. I got confused trying to drive and do math. Then I thought - damn I should go back there but I didn't want to chance it. So I thought I will call them when I get home (I am old guy so I still don't think cell phone first). Then I remembered the cell in my pocket, but how do I get the number? AHA - I had their receipt - so I pulled off and called them - after I tried to find it myself but this was really hidden.

So I called the dealer. When the mechanic gets on the phone he says "Uh-oh - I think I can talk you through how to change it." Then the phone went silent for about 2 minutes. I finally said "Hey you still there?" He answered "Yeah, I trying to get the video up."

He finally got the video up. It was a cryptic process and took 3 tries to get the sequence right. And then I could drive home at a normal speed.

everything on cars. I have to get out my owner's manual every 6 months to change
the time for daylight savings because I can't remember how to do it for 6 months--
and I've had this car for 5 years!

was a bit taxing at one time.
The speedometer is meant to be a meter to read, not a math test at 95kmh
