Potentially the first person to be discovered for a modeling career from a mug shot.

Man's 'handsome' mug shot goes viral on police Facebook page

It didn't take long for the mug shot to go viral, attracting more than 40,000 likes and comments from admirers and detractors on Facebook.

Jeremy Meeks, 30, has dreamy eyes, prominent cheekbones and a chiseled face. He also was arrested on felony weapons charges, the Stockton Police Department said.

But that hasn't stopped a steady stream of likes, shares and comments from being posted on the department's Facebook page after the mugshots of Meeks and three other suspects were published following their arrests on Wednesday.

As of Thursday evening, Meeks' mug shot had attracted more than 31,000 likes, nearly 3,000 shares and more than 9,500 comments.

The way people here on DU talked about it. Then I ran into it on TV one day. The most wicked satire I think I've ever seen. A lot more crude than I usually like, but then so is this society. Of course I had to get the DVD .

Maybe he "coulda been a contender"! If he doesn't lose his looks while serving his prison term, maybe he can turn his life around with a modeling contract... someday. Or not.

It is Florida, afterall. And the worse morals you possess, the more marketable you become.

Maybe they could do the fashion shoots at the penitentiary if the exercise yard is big enough...it's just a matter of putting up some dropcloths and green screens. I mean, if you can have poetry slams in prison, why not?

And speaking of screens, if this were a screenplay, it would be laughed out of every studio in Hollywood for being too unbelievable!

The police report:

People v Jeremy Meeks
...The complaint alleges that...Meeks, 30...is a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, along with other firearm and gang related charges. At his arraignment, his bail was raised to $1,000,000 and he was appointed a public defender. His next court date is June 27th at 8:30 AM.

Meeks was stopped by Stockton Police yesterday at approximately 6:30 AM, after he and others were observed leaving a home where a search warrant was about to be executed. Meeks was the driver of a car with two passengers; one of the passengers...is on probation...(He) will...be similarly charged.

A search of the passenger compartment yielded a 9mm round of ammunition and a small amount of what is believed to be marijuana. A search of the trunk located an unregistered and loaded Springfield Armory .45 caliber XD(M) semi-automatic handgun along with two extended magazines for the firearm.

Meeks, has a felony conviction and a two-year state prison sentence stemming from a 2002 conviction for grand theft from a person (a lesser offense to a robbery) out of Solano County. His documented gang membership, as well as Bailey’s, with Northside Gangster Crips forms the basis for the gang allegations in the complaint.

A recent resisting arrest conviction suffered by Meeks out of Manteca will result in a Violation of Probation also being filed today.

- Mom has set up a donation page.

- A #FelonCrushFriday Twitter meme has been born.

- A video interview with the perp.

- This may come as a shock to you, but the police are not amused -- especially since they buried an officer just last week:
On May 28...33-year-old...officer Scott Hewell...was riding with his partner on their way to a shooting when their patrol car veered into a tree in the median...

Hewell was released last Friday after spending several days in the intensive care unit...The other officer hurt in the wreck has already returned to work...The California Highway Patrol is conducting an independent investigation of the crash.

The cops never made it to the scene of the crime? Then what made the police car "veer" -- bad driving by Hewell's partner, bad driving by another vehicle, an obstruction in the road, a mechanical failure? Instead of being indignant that Meeks is getting so much attention, maybe they'd better concentrate on finding out exactly what happened!

P.S. Meeks is married with a child, but take heart -- he's not the only hot felon in the sea.

Especially the teardrop (at least I think that's a teardrop) tat beside his eye. Doesn't that denote a murderer in prison?

Maybe I'm just not into the "bad boy" vibe, or not delusional that I can "save" a thug from his evil ways only if I can get him to marry me.
