(31,167 posts)Our cat always welcomes us when we've been away for a few days. Perhaps not so visually, but we see a difference in the normal behavior.

(46,327 posts)I go up to my Mom's place, stay there a few days to fish and help my Mom.
When I get home Lucky and Charlotte just go bananas, not jumping up like that but they sure are happy.

(90,764 posts)Our cats used to do that when we got home. Rushing in to get some love. (between fussing on us for leaving them)

(50,557 posts)I don't know why, but I've had longhaired cats and shorthaired cats...all the longhairs would jump up into your arms, none of the shorthairs would.

"Fred the Cat"
My Ex's daughter had Freds mom and I fell for him as soon as I saw him. When he was a wee little guy I made sure he knew my scent - I would breath full onto his face, I even went so far as to rub him on my skin.
He LOVED me! He was MY cat. Only one I ever had. I was hauling cars at the time so was gone 3 or 4 nights a week and when I got home he would come trotting out to say hello. If he didn't, He would come when I called him. He used to sleep on my pillow when I was gone!
He never would jump up on me like that, but he was cool.
That's a cool cat too. Most aren't that cool, I'm sorry to say
(ducking from he cat lovers who will, I'm sure. argue that point)
