plant/flower people, can you tell me what this is?



dad says it's some kind of milkweed but i'm wondering what exactly it is. it smells heavenly and the bees love it. it's been coming back every year for probably a decade but it's never spawned another one.

version is orange. Monarch butterflies and other nectar loving insects love this plant.
