After we have been asked over and over again
for the meaning of the inscription on Marleneís

meiner Tage) we finally asked Maria Riva what
the translation would be like: And here is her
answer:
Here I stand in the benchmark of my days."

What Dietrich liked was what she interpreted as
its meaning:
1. I am what I am.
2. I remain the proof of me
