A kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle onto the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Friday morning, but survived the ordeal when a police officer and a bridge employee rescued it. The small, white kitten suffered bruises, but is expected to fully recover, Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said.
The kitten was taken to an animal rescue center and will be put up for adoption, he said.
The cat was apparently thrown from a northbound vehicle at about the mid-way point of the 24-mile span. Another motorist called Causeway operators at 8:57 a.m. to report that the kitten was on the curb of the bridge, Dufrechou said.
At 9:03 a.m., motorist assistance patrol employee Jason Borne and Causeway police officer Scott Huff reached the location and retrieved the frightened kitten. Causeway employee Walter Teoulet then took the kitten to Animal Rescue of New Orleans, Dufrechou said.

But thank God there are good Samaritans everywhere, and I'm hoping they're in the majority.
