Just an awful movie that you will readily acknowledge is bad and point out the flaws and plot holes, yet you will still sit there and watch the entire movie every time you see it on.
For me, it's "National Treasure." I've seen it a thousand times and will probably see it another thousand times before it's all said and done. I love it, yet it's soo bad and so classic Nicholas Cage.

(2,805 posts)I remember reading where whichever channel used to show Road House at least 3x a week said that it always brought in the ratings so that is why they endlessly showed it. I guess you can't argue with the numbers. I, personally, never could get into it.

(95,337 posts)"Showgirls"
*** feels so shamed in saying that, it's like saying I love to see Nickelback and Creed do a world tour together ***
There is just something so viciously backstabbing bad that makes this movie so so so so bad but fun to watch! In a way it was suppose to be an insight into a naughty little world similar to what "Boogie Nights" did for the Porn Industry. But "Boogie Nights" is an extremely well made movie (and Julianne Moore was once again robbed of an Oscar). "Showgirls" is just so awful that even the sex scenes are like the biggest turns offs out there. But it's a trainwreck I can't turn away from if it's on TV. And it's made so much funnier when they try to edit it for Television. If anything it's the edited version I like better because you can see how badly they hacked it up with the floating pixilated bra and panties they try to put on these naked women.

(25,538 posts)"Showgirls" is so bad that during every scene one screams silently in one's head: Whut ..... no .... this isn't happening ... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? How did they persuade the actors to do these things? Everything about it is spectacularly absurd, as if a comic book mated with Playboy magazine and gave birth to a movie. I cannot look away. My mouth falls open and I breath through it. The twitch in my left eyelid returns. The clock ticks. The Earth hurls through space.
"Flashdance" is also fun because of badness of story and dialogue, but at least the dance parts are good, and the clothes (because the actors keep theirs on).

(22,897 posts)"The Bad Seed" was on the other night and, imagine-- it still gives me chills some 50 years later. We never see any violence-- it's all off-camera-- but when the character Leroy is burned alive and screaming, and we see only the actors' horrified expressions as their eyes follow his screams is far, far worse than seeing anything graphic. Far worse.
I know... a bit off-topic

(21,925 posts)It's one of the classic black and white horror movies. I agree that atmospheric horror is far more effective than the graphic stuff, like Cat People (the original), The Innocents, The Night Of The Demon, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, Night Of The Hunter, Cape Fear (original), The Haunting, The Spiral Staircase, Carnival Of Souls, The Leopard Man, Psycho, Diabolique, The Hound Of The Baskervilles (Basil Rathbone version). This first clip is from Jacques Tourneur's very atmospheric The Leopard Man, where we see no gore but we get plenty of suspense through the use of shadow and light. Another Jacques Tourneur gem of suspense is Cat People, where a woman walking alone at night is stalked by the cat woman and hears sounds and sees branches moving but nothing else. Creepy.

Airport was a pretty big moviexwhen I was a kid. Mostly because the interior and exterior airport scens were filmed at MSP. the sequals can be considered awful, but not the original. Helen Hayes won an Academy Award and the film was nomibated for nine others.

I actually liked National Treasure and didn't find it a bad movie. To me it's great escapist movie-making and while I don't think Nicholas Cage is a great actor, I think he's fine; he has appeared in many films that have provided great entertainment to me. I like almost all his films, except the Ghost Rider series. To me he's a far, far better action actor than most of today's lousy crop, like Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson The Rock, Bruce Willis, who play the same role again and again and can't show any nuances to their personalities.

(43,182 posts)And an off-the-wall supporting role by Christopher Walken in his most Christopher Walken-esqe glory.
One of the most random movies I've come across. It feels almost improv-ed in its delivery of its lines a la Curb Your Enthusiasm, as opposed to having a written script. The story is just so silly--Stiller and Black are best friends. Black invents this chemical to dissolve dog poop and becomes very rich. Stiller becomes envious of his success. Somewhere along the line, Stiller accidentally kills Black's pet horse and he enlists Walken to cover it up. I'm sure there was a point to all of it, but I'm not exactly sure what it is.
A seemingly very dumb movie absolutely panned by the critics, yet I somehow find it hilarious. There are some very funny lines in it that I'll just chuckle thinking about.
