as some know, I am recovering from some freakazoid abscess in my leg. I am currently on IV antibiotics and using a woundvac. I am also trapped in a "care facility" against my instincts.
I am a tough old broad (tm), and mostly have no pain and can get around and be normal. the one time I kind of freak and feel anything is when they remove the packing and "saran wrap" off the leg. frankly, it hurts like a sonofabitch.
at TMC the were great about giving me a little dose of morphine beforehand. made the procedure tolerable.
when I got here to the "home" there was no order for morphine and I had to have the vac installed without it. it was pretty bad, but not as bad as when they take the sponge out, so of course I have been after everybody to get a new order for today when it was scheduled to be changed. Yesterday the NP (who is only here M W and F) came into the room and assured me it was ordered.
you know what is coming. no order. and it is time to change this thing. fuck it. I just told the nurse no way. I haven't been taking anything because the ONLY TIME I HAVE PAIN is when they change the dressing. I know what I need and thought it was understood and taken care of. fuck this shit. I am pissed.
siesta time. thanks for letting me rant.

Have the staff get the damn doc on the phone and get that order.

(22,666 posts)You've every right NOT to suffer. Especially because of someone else's laziness/forgetfulness or whatever.

(90,767 posts)Hoping things improve quickly! It's just plain wrong to deny someone pain medicine when it is needed.
Wishing you a full recovery...and soon as possible!

I can still feel my eyes well up at her panic, love and craziness as she circled that nurse's station demanding that shot....
You can only hope that you have someone that much in "your corner" when its the end....
Kali
(55,008 posts)but as an oral liquid instead of in my PICC line. apparently they can't do that (WTF?)
is this going to work? don't think I have ever had it that way
damn this is irritating as hell

Sending all the positive vibes I have left, Kali. You will get better. I just wish you'd hurry the fuck up.

(55,008 posts)and lasted longer too
I am doing fine, really - it is the bureaucracy of all this crap that is taking so long. going to the infection doc in Tucson tomorrow and hopefully the IV will be done and they can pull the PICC out and I can get out of here.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,622 posts)You have to be an RN or an MD to do intravenous push, which is what happens in your PICC line.
So oral it is. It will work, but a bit more slowly.
I hear ya about irritating...
Kali
(55,008 posts)no idea what the deal is, probably paranoid of addictions or whatever

(25,816 posts)My brother developed a cyst on his behind and it caused sepsis and he has been at Villa Maria (near TMC) for over 6 months.
Surgery, colonoscopy, then colonoscopy reversal. He'll be out soon.
Are you still in Tucson? Get well soon. The ranch is calling you home.
