We teased him mercilessly because he was the most-unathletic nerd I've ever met. Remember Revenge of the Nerds? Those nerds would have jocked the hell out of this guy.

But dumb he wasn't...he once tried to explain to me what was wrong with how I run with physics and equations and engineering. I'm a language, communications and literature-nerd; I'd have understood more if he'd pointed and grunted in a semiotic fashion. I take pride in how not-STEM I really am.

I've never seen a gym teacher before or since that couldn't shoot free throws or hit grounders. About the only sports the guy was any good at were golf and as a soccer goalie. We used to have seniors vs. teachers sports events and I never in 6 years (4 as a student, 2 as the alumni sibling of a current student) saw anybody score on him in soccer.

I'm pretty sure he loved his wedgie jokes too.

opening up for Hank III and (I think) The Reverend Horton Heat....they were booked to play the House of Blues here in Orlando - which happens to be on Disney Property - HoB refused to put the name of the band on the marquis so Hank said "Fuck you we'll play elsewhere" and they booked a club downtown instead. I always thought highly of them for that. I wasn't able to make it to that show but I plan to next time any of them come through (I have seen the Rev - he was terrific. Opened for Motorhead)

Cattle Decapitation - the funny thing about them is they are mostly vegetarians and they play brutal, technical death metal with lyrical themes about how we are screwing up the environment and abusing animals and such. And a lot of the songs are from the abused animal's point of view.
Wormed - bonus points because their lead singer is named Phlegeton
Circle of Dead Children
Fuck...I'm Dead
Pretty Little Flower
Insect Warfare
Birdflesh
Disfear
Cock and Ball Torture
The County Medical Examiners - and yes, they are mostly all doctors or in med school
General Surgery - none of whom are doctors - but they and the County medical Examiners play the same type of goregrind that Carcass played in their early days.

but you get the picture - lol, i have pages of this stuff...

We were all students together at The Catholic University of America right as the Bernard Cardinal Law scandal was breaking...that was the explanation for the name. It was our cause too. We hated the cover-up and several of the senior university administrators were questioned about their involvement as they'd all come from Arch. of Boston; there were whispers that they'd been rewarded with their positions in DC for being good-soldiers.

I wish I had photos from that, I was 6'4" and about 300# wearing a floral housedress with a slicked sky-blue side-part haircut, cherry-red lips and Buddy Holly glasses. I was the singer and everything you need to know can be summarized thus: I'm HoH/tone-deaf. I'm really glad there are no recordings that I know of us playing. We were terrible.

Formed in November 1968 by Mick Abrahams after he left Jethro Tull. They recorded two good rock albums and toured the US. Their first album had a pig's head on the front cover with a ring through its nose, a fag in its mouth, sunglasses and headphones. The playing on the album is good but it isn't always matched by the material. Still, it had its moments, listen out particularly for some classic progressive rock on "The Modern Alchemist" and "Ain't Ya Coming Home, Babe?" which conclude each side of the album. Their second album saw them move away from their blues roots towards a more soulful sound. The See For Miles CD reissue of this contains two additional cuts, both sides of their second 45. In September 1970, Pete Banks joined from Yes but the new line-up just didn't gel and the band split up at the end of 1970. Subsequently, Mick Abrahams formed his own band; Andy Pyle joined Savoy Brown and was then in a later incarnation of Juicy Lucy with Ron Berg.
