"Holy crap! I'm in the wrong San Jose!"

LAND OF THE LOST: Lots of response to last week's tale about the visiting backpackers who mistakenly booked a hostel in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Ann Webb, who herself is currently vacationing in Ireland, notes that as a volunteer at Mineta San Jose International Airport, it's not infrequent that visitors arrive at the information desk, having discovered they're in the wrong San Jose. "One guy even remarked that on arriving he was surprised to see the modern buildings!"

Then there was the guy who was trying to get to Oakland. You got it -- he ended up in Auckland, NZ!

I have never heard it, however.

edit: Then there was the time my bus back from Fremont BART (the "Gateway to Civilization" ) had to detour because of construction. The driver pulled over and called the control center for new directions. At this point the burly African American gentleman in the back started belting out the song at top volume!
