(7,162 posts)All the majors, even Bud "the Great American lager" are owned by foreign conglomerates. Only a US craft brewer will keep the money here.
AND it's just WAYYYYYYYYYY better beer.
Like Stone, Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, Bootlegger, Rogue, Lost Coast, North Coast, The Bruery, Dogfish head...
Oh well. You get the point.

MONK FROM THE YUNK'
Belgian Style Tripel
This strong, golden colored ale is brewed with pilsner malt and noble hops, but it is the traditional Belgian strain of yeast that provides the complex aromas of fruit and spice. With a dry finish and relatively light body, you will find our Belgian Tripel very drinkable for the beer this potent.
9.0% ABV, 30 IBUs

(14,738 posts)....that the Tripel I like the most is Darkstar Tripel, a cask ale from a UK brewery.
Darkstar also do my favourite Imperial Stout, and when it's available their Green Hopped IPA is magnificent!
Current Belgian favourites for me are Rochefort 10, Westmalle Dubbel & Cantillion Gueuze.

(7,162 posts)Plus, a good high-octane craft brew means I don't have to drink as many to get that buzz.
That means less bathroom time. Which is important at age 45.

I drink swill, too. I sure as hell do not put Coors light(water) in a glass! I want it on my palette for microseconds.
arbusto_baboso
(7,162 posts)Oh, and that's also why one drinks Coors ice cold; so you don't have to taste how fucking FOUL it actually is!

(8,492 posts)I'm one of those people that thinks beer and cilantro taste like soap.
Gin and tonic, on the other hand, tastes like a little piece of heaven...until the next day.

(7,162 posts)Many of them taste much like a dry sherry. Saying "I don't like beer" if you've only had Bud/Miller/Coors or the fizzy yellow alco-pisswater that passes for beer to most people is like saying "I don't like wine" when all you've had is the stuff out of a box, or the efforts of Ernest and Julio Gallo.

(8,492 posts)I've tried several. Light, dark, warm, etc. My brother is a beer fanatic and was always telling me "this one is different". They all taste like soap. All tequila, even that really expensive shit they tried to give me a few months ago, tastes like gym socks.
Wine? I can take it or leave it. Price doesn't seem to be a factor. I've liked some really cheap ones and hated some very expensive ones. I did love the movie "Bottle Shock", though!

(7,162 posts)that I can find at least one beer that a person will like.
I'd have to know what other tastes you have in beverages. But I could find a beer you would like.
Just off the top of my head, I;m thinking you'd like a Finnish Sahti, since you like gin drinks. Sahti is made with rye malts and juniper berries, and strained through juniper branches. It's the beer world's answer to gin.
There are some domestic versions available. New belgium's is actually quite nice.

Got one of those recently.

I'm OK with beer, though.

(4,524 posts)Examples - Budweiser, Coors, etc.
Dark and filling is the way to go! I'm one of those people that only drinks beer for the taste, so it has to be something that I can enjoy.
