I'll probably hang it up after I hit 15,000 posts. It's been fun, but i don't have anything to add to the site.

I edit it, add and delete, guilty of all three!

When I am commenting on a delicate subject, and my post seems too ambiguous for my taste, I usually just don't post.

I just checked and I have never had a hidden post since I joined in 2005. What am I doing wrong?

I very rarely have my posts hidden, and that is because I avoid making personal attacks, though I do post a lot of crazy shit.

Although the majority of the time it's because I've been interrupted in the middle of writing a post, then when I come back, I look at it and think, meh, who cares?

Or I'll be interrupted and switch to another forum, leaving my post unposted by accident, then I'll remember I wrote a post and go looking for it but it's gone and I think, who the hell deleted my post????

Oops. Forgot to post again.

I need to start doing that more.

But I never seem to learn.

I probably should have deleted the nipple pic too, before it was hidden.



Oh well. Mostly I abandon posts because I've decide they are too pedantic or mean.

Usually it's the kind of post that, when I start writing it, I imagine it will earn me scores of "Right ON, brother!" replies.

But by the time I've finished it, I imagine all of the internet uniting to rage-murder the hell out of me for 'being that guy."

So I delete...

Half the ones I abort are because I ask myself 'do I really want to deal with the blowback for this?'

Someone posted something that really pissed me off, and I spent an hour looking up the data I needed to not only refute their point, but to make them look like a total effing idiot for posting it in the first place.

In the end, I decided that the argument it would spark wasn't worth the trouble and stress it would cause, and I just ignored the thread.

For different reasons.

Sometimes I do have regrets.

I lurk more than anything anyway but I delete a lot.

...and then after I revise it and post it, I think: That's stupid.

After I delete a post, I don't have to delete it again. I can't tell you how a person could delete a post hundreds or thousands of times.

I tend to be easily annoyed, particularly when people post things that are based on feelings and the preponderance of the evidence doesn't support the feeling. On the positive side, I don't believe I've ever had a post hidden, so I'm either doing something right, or all the people who disagree with me have me on ignore (not that I blame them, I'm still trying to find a way to ignore myself in real life).

And I have an unfortunate habit of thinking things that I shouldn't say. In real life, when I'm angry, I walk away. I do the same thing on the internet, because I don't want to be listening to the worst angels of my nature. I unfortunately picked up my dad's capacity for verbal abuse, but fortunately my mom's capacity to be willing to walk away from conflict.

I had reached a more mellow place emotionally, and so I have been less prone to wanting to go off. But sadly, my mellow place is being blown up, and so I will be going back to my habit of not posting until after I'm not angry.
