Absolutely fantastic weather this past weekend, unseasonably warm (high 70's - mid 80's). These photos were taken near Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. Enjoy!

(149,620 posts)These are wonderful, and so colorful and picturesque!
I know you had fun taking them. I especially like the close-ups but all are so cool.
I love the seagull and the pelicans!

(19,373 posts)These were taken yesterday. On Saturday my friend and I walked on the beach near Fisherman's Wharf and I neglected to bring the camera. Unfortunate as there was a group of pelicans diving in the water for food, and a pod of dolphins breaching right off shore. Really bummed I didn't get shots of them, but the walk was nice anyway!

(4,412 posts)I hope you made it out to Asilomar. Next time you go, you have to try Fifi's, it's this lovely little French Restaurant off the tourist track.

(19,373 posts)I've heard of Fifi's but never had the opportunity to eat there. You're right about the weather, Fall is a beautiful time on the Central coast. It was just especially warm last weekend. We had dinner at the Chart House Saturday night, and afterwards walked down Cannery Row about 10:00pm. It was still 70 degrees, not chilly at all. First time I'd ever been out that late in Monterey and not been freezing!

(4,412 posts)There's a large gang presence there now and a lot of violence related to it. Not the same Salinas I knew as a kid.

(19,373 posts)It was still pretty laid back when I lived there, population ebbed and flowed with the crops, but the gang presence was light. I left in '86, and a few years later it really started getting rough in the 90's. My ex's family still lives there and even their subdivision in North Salinas is gang infested now. My kids are grown now, but when they were a bit younger we never let them go there without one of us there too. Really sad. I have some fond memories of living in that area.

(448 posts)Bay Area. Those pictures are truly beautiful. I didn't know about Salinas. I've always wanted to go there because I think they have a John Steinbeck Museum.....
