This is my post 20,000 and I've been here since early 2002.

I don't write fast. Whenever I do write fast my brain sometimes falls behind and I post something stupid.

I was reading DU almost from the start, but was a little reluctant to jump in with my own posts since in "Real Life" my words have frequently caused trouble.

My first post here was a comment about the usual Evolution/Creation politics. I am by natural inclination (and some formal training) an amateur evolutionary biologist. The way biology is taught in our public schools is a travesty and it's all the fault of the ignorant Creationists and other Fundamentalist religious crazies.

Well that's just one of my hot button issues, I have plenty, and I'm happy to have DU as a forum where I feel welcome.

This post isn't about me, it's a love note to all the fine very intelligent people here on DU.
