Dog doors: we're babysitting a friend's young dog, but we're having trouble getting

across the concept of the dog door. Our two dogs hop in and out with ease, and this fellow will put his head through, but he doesn't like using it. He was a rescue dog just homed a month or so back, so I don't know his early history.

Any advice?

That is how I taught my dog...Got on the other side, held up the flap, held a treat, coaxed her through...several times. Then put the flap down, lift a corner, hold treat there... see if you can coax him that way? Took about 15 minutes before my pup was going in and out like a pro. For my dog, the flap made her hesitant initially...getting that out of the way the first few times helped a ton.

training into steps. We did have one session with treats, but it's hard to manage with my other two dogs horning in. I'm going to hav to put them upstairs and work one on one with the new dog a couple of times.
