There's a small theater in the next town that shows 'reruns' (movies come and go so fast these days) "The Artist" and "The Separation" are there, now. I'd like to see "Hugo" on a big screen, but this theater seems to have movies for adults only.

You are right, there are similarities. And Asa is a fine actor. I really enjoyed Hugo, but I thought that Chloë Grace Moretz, was really chewing the scenery and that detracted a bit from the beauty of the film.
