The Somerton Man

The Somerton Man. On December 1, 1948 a body was discovered on the beach near Adelaide, Australia. He appeared to be 45 years old, well dressed, and no cause of death could be determined. There was no identification or money on him, only a tiny piece of paper in his pocket bearing the words “Taman Shud”, the final words in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. They mean “the end”. The mystery remains unsolved.
