In the doctor's office today...

I was waiting for them to call me, and they had Fox News on the TV. A lady a few seats down from me said something about the guy who sneaked into the White House a few weeks ago, and then said: "He didn't shoot the President. I wish he had. As far as I'm concerned, he and everybody who voted for him should be shot." And then she let forth a string of obscenities, which you can probably guess.

If you'd said anything, they would have lectured you on how Political Correctness is bad, and you must be a "liberal." Screw em.

..in front of strangers, in a semi-public setting like a doctor's waiting room. That's not exactly sane behavior. Seriously screwed up.

out a cell phone and reported it on the spot. Considering all the nuts out there, if I had a cellphone I think that I would have had the local FBI and Secret Service numbers in my address book. The OP could have even taken a picture of the woman was well for ID purposes.

Edit to add - I would also consider videoing the woman with my Ipod that has video capability.

But she's advocating violence against other humans who live outside the womb. Typical right winger hypocrite. Her Jesus would be ashamed.

What is wrong with leafing through those germ-infested ancient magazines?

I always take a book and sit it the furthest corner from the TV.
As for the crazy lady, maybe her problems are "neurological". Or she is just a hate-saturated wing nut. I would have moved as far as possible from her.

in the waiting room, I let it be known that I object. If they do not change the channel for me, I tell them that I will be spending my time and money with another doctor.

There is a cardiologist in Rockford IL, acknowledged to be excellent, who does not have my business. Other Democrats will hear about him. Will it hurt his business? Who cares?

when I have been in public waiting rooms and they have the cable remote sitting there, whether Fox is on or not when no one is looking I go to settings and parental controls on the remote and put a password on the Fox channel.

they have the show Planet Earth on Blu Ray and they play each DVD in turn. The receptionist says it's a little more popular than standard cable crap and it keeps her blood pressure down.

They put Animal Planet on sometimes. Other times, they have the History Channel. I usually go there in the morning, so I don't see the whackazoid shows about aliens and Bigfoot. Once in a while, you get the nice documentaries about pioneers or the Civil War.

TBS on at some places, can't go wrong with comedy. Animal Planet goes over pretty good too. Some have invested in DVDs. I think they realized 24/7 news wasn't a good thing for patients.
