this past week--i found myself at the piano, sobbing as i was playing a tune over and over and over and finally realized it was a sorrowful song i was creating for a little dog i lost 17 months ago.

i don't really play the piano.

i've gone back to it through the week and each time i remember the song.

i just got done at the piano--i wrote it down. it doesn't have a name.

(sorry for the downer)

now let your party begin!

I've lost three in the last ten years or so, and it's really, honestly some of the most intense pain I've ever had in my life.

it's truly amazing (and wonderful) how much, how deeply, we can love. isn't it?

The bond between people and dogs really is amazing. I think dogs are very pure souls -- it's hard to explain, but I think part of the attraction is that people know that dogs can be an example for us. I think most people seriously underestimate dogs' minds and the potential for a real friendship with them.

she just seemed so lost when she came into my life (the family had given her away after ten years!)

and she came at a time when i was so lost in my life (my mom had died three months before and my beautiful dog of twelve years died six weeks before)

and slowly we bonded and helped each other

and i've been so damn lost without her.

but she was loved--so very much...and that is just so important--it's probably all that really matters

(didn't mean to hijack this thread)

So my daughter sent the link to me last weekend, at the start of a four day visit with my son's kids. Little Emmett, 2.5 years old, loves to watch music videos with me. He ALWAYS wants to see them at least 3 times in a row. ("Again, Grandma." ). And then he asks for them later. ("Play Trouble&quot . He thinks it's all about the TROUBLE.
Anyway, last night when I woke briefly, looked at DU, while that little ditty was of course, playing in my head, since it's only been a week, two more to go... I figured, OK, they're asking for it!!!
