(46,347 posts)We used to go up to Oconto county in the summer to my Dad's vacation home, (a trailer,) to fish and swim and such on the weekends.
And going up there and back, my Dad would tune in an AM station out of some town, that kept fading in and out.
So all the way up there and back we'd hear, "Oompa oompa....fsssst...oompa oompa...fssst..."
For 2 and a half to 3 hours, there and back to Howards Grove.

(2,959 posts)My parents were friends with him and he had just recorded his first album. He gave them a copy when they got back to the Bay Area from a 3 month vacation with my dad's family in Delaware in late 1956.
My mom used to say Johnny was "one of the sexiest men I ever knew and I can prove it.
I inherited that album along with my parent's record collection, it's in my basement studio.

OK the likely song was "Slow Poke" by Pee Wee King.
That's disturbing
I've never heard of it (born in 1952) and I'm NOT going to find it on You Tube so I can hear it.
