How will he go out this week? What about an O'LOOFAH impersonator charging in, wildeyed, yelling "Do it LIVE!1 Do it LIVE!1" and killing him off, then O'LOOFAH being tackled and dragged off leaving the busted up desk and a long black screen.
As for the "T" - while it was(?)/is his IRL, it sounds really JARRING now.

(12,154 posts)Colbert really was pronounced Col-BEAR.
The 40s movie star Claudine Colbert pronounced it like that, anyway.

We bid a fond farewell to 'The Colbert Report' as Stephen Colbert makes his way to 'Late Show'
.... Through it all, the star of The Colbert Report infuriatingly refused to pronounce the last letter of his shows name.
Its French, bitch, Colbert explained on an early promotion for The Colbert Report. ....
But there is one huge problem one worthy of a wag of the finger: The Colbert who steps into Lettermans clown shoes in 2015 will not be the same man who signs off Comedy Central this month.
Sure hell have the same name, but will no longer do conservative politics and might even morph himself into an entirely different Stephen Colbert.
Perhaps hell even bring back the hard t at the end of his name which he used before college. Nobody but Colbert knows who this Colbert is but there are hints that this new Colbert wont be the man who taunts liberal guests by opening the questioning with the simple, George W. Bush great President or the greatest President?
