Happy Birthday, Dan. Rest in Peace, Hoss.

Born on this day in 1928: Bonanza's Dan Blocker! Blocker was best known for his role as Hoss Cartwright, but also appeared on shows like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. He tragically passed away at the age of 43 during production for Bonanza. This event marked one of the first times on television that an actor's real life death was written into a series.

And apparently was first cousins with Crickets drummer J.I.Allison's father. (And Bobby K. and J.I. were friends since they were teenagers. )
