I have a Facebook account that I hardly ever look at; I could have my Facebook contacts party in a bus shelter.

with some current friends thrown in. I use Facebook pretty much to keep in touch with old friends from back home (2,400 miles or so).

The conservative family and Texan people would get along ok. Then there are the people I actually like - my atheist and communist friends - so there would be two very distinct groups.

I have several different groups of friends there...

DU folk

My family

Poetry friends

And a few unclassifiable friends!

I think it would be a crazy, fun party! I don't think any of them are conservatives, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Doesn't mean I don't have friends, just don't have facebook friends. From what I've heard, I'm probably better off.

has almost nothing to do with ME! It has essentially become little more than a Facebook dumping ground.

I would say that you are probably better off without Facebook.

I am more interested in Animal Rescue Groups/Furbabies and their Parents on Facebook so there would be a lot of cats and dogs invited. Personal info is strictly minimalized. Nobody in my family even knew that I was on Facebook until I happened to mention something about my nephew's former wife's Facebook page. I got yipped at for not friending all these family members and that I would be more in the loop if I did. I still haven't friended any of them and don't plan to. I like using Facebook the way I do - an informational source and following some of my personal interests not for family chit chat.

for discovering websites that you might never have known existed.

Here are just a few sites that I follow

George Takeii - an absolute gem
Brad Takeii
Grow Food, Not Lawns
Americans Against the Tea Party
Upworthy
National Dog News Examiner
And My Cat - people post stories of their cat rescues
Soi Dog Foundation - Animal rescue group in Thailand - also fighting against the dog meat trade
Southern Poverty Law Center
Puppy Rescue Mission - They work to raise money to help soldiers bring back the dogs they have befriended in Iraq or Afhanistan
Love For Mia - An organization that works to help dogs live who have medical conditions that would have resulted in then being
euthanized in the past.
Sally Kern Does not Represent Me - a great site for those who are liberal living in Oklahoma

wild and interesting than I could imagine.

Christians, non-Christians.

Old HS classmates, friends, friends of friends, relatives

Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives

Older people, young people

Drinkers, non-drinkers, pot smokers, non-pot smokers

Gay, not gay

Black, white, hispanic, north, south, east, west

Not that I have all that many FB friends, but they are a pretty diverse crowd.

My f-list is a combination of current/former pub co-workers, assorted long-time DUers, and old friends from my teen/young-adult punker/goth days :-D

The music would be epic, to say the least!

I don't have a lot of facebook friends. Half of them already come to things we organize anyway.

The rest are scattered around all continents but Antarctica, so afternoon tea is kinda out.
