(9,527 posts)I can't say that I think the person in the car was a jerk.
If I see somebody trying to pull in at the last second, I often don't let them in either because they made the choice to think they are too important to wait like everybody else.
There are some notoriously bad exits in the Boston area, like exiting the I-90 turnpike toward Cambridge, which will often be backed up from the light half a mile away all the way to the toll booth, but there are always people happy to go through the left lane which turns a different direction and expect to be let in at the last moment. Yes, it's a horribly poorly designed exit with an idiotic traffic light pattern, but that's no excuse to be a self-centered ass and zoom around everybody else who waits.

I kind of think that the person in the gigantic vehicle is a jerk.

(16,334 posts)Her reasoning was that she could save so much time by doing that and someone always let her in.
THIS was right after I was griping about all the people who do this and if they only understood how to merge, EVERYONE would go faster!
She was unashamed. Bragging about it. I think I like her less now, lol.

(20,277 posts)I'm figuring there may be a lot of those people out there. Can't be bothered with any 'this lane ends pretty soon' or 'merge' signs
Then try to weasel their way in. I found the most hilarious people were those that drive fancy BMW or Mercedes type cars. I have always had old beaters, so they have more to lose than I do if they insist on trying to wedge their car in a 6" space.
I would give her a firm "I don't drink with you".

(16,334 posts)I was just shocked that she announced it in such a way as to say "YEP, I AM THE ASSHOLE you hate in the car!"
It really has bothered me ever since she said it.

(95,337 posts)My guess is he tried to wait until the last minute to get into that lane and I'm like the grey sedan, I won't budge an inch either just because someone is too indecisive about their lane choices.

(10,575 posts)The second rule is that solid, or unbroken, lines tell you where you may not pass or change lanes; dashed or broken lines permit you to pass or change lanes.
