Available at Auction - Jerry Garcia Autograph Letter Signed
A rare handwritten letter by the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia to a Vogue cover model is going up for auction.
In the two-part letter, postmarked June 22, 1982, Garcia, who met the model at a party in New York City in 1980, thanks the unidentified woman for sending him postcards from Europe, then clumsily explains why it took him so long to respond.
Thank you really for sending that postcard, I feel like its sort of our first official communication somehow," Garcia writes. "Ive been hoping we could get together ever since we first met at Als that winter nite so long ago (sigh)... I hope it doesnt seem like Ive been avoiding you, although I admit Ive kind of been waiting for the opportunity (that is, the right opportunity) for us to meet in some kind of neutral context that would be comfortable and relaxed and free of any pressure.
