(5,946 posts)Used to walk into the bank to a chorus of Hi Diane. Bank bought 3 times and now a capital one bank. All the staff replaced by Indians - ? SO I lost my driver's license and needed all my data from the bank's safe deposit. No one knew me. They had changed staff since the last time I was in 3 months ago, so they asked for my drivers license - good luck with that. We had to go through a bunch of crap to get me that box so I could prove who I was to the dMV. It took 3 hours to prove I was me. Nothing I had was good enough because all the proof was in the box. Credit cards were not accepted, My check book was not accepted, they would not even let me cash a check and you know how they don't really check anymore.
at the end of the day I withdrew most of my accounts from that bank I was so pissed off.

(12,869 posts)New faces. The teller asked for a picture ID. I did not have one and saw a local morning newspaper in her cubical. "Look at the front page of the paper, will that be enough." She looked at the paper and said, "That will be fine." I was more active at that time and had garnered about a quarter page with a picture.

(5,946 posts)you could have been a doppleganger! or it could have been a fussy picture.
I like going to the bank to see people, if they are going to put inexperienced people there and rotating staff, what is the point. I am moving over my checking account and have about half on my direct deposit moved to another small local bank where they all recognize me when I walk in the door.

(6,719 posts)Another approach which I have used is to send my letter to multiple addresses. Works! Nothing gets their attention better than having six copies of the same letter arrive from various office to the desk where it should have been sent in the first place. I never include that address in my multiple mailings! I live in the San Diego area. Last year I sent letters to my bank at addresses in Des Moines, St. Louis, San Francisco -- can't remember the others. I got immediate action.
