Energy "shots"/supplements - have you tried them? Do they work for you? What do you think of them?

I have wanted to try these for a while now, and I finally bought just a couple to try.

The brand I bought has caffeine equivalent to about a cup of coffee, plus some B vitamins, and no sugar.

So, I have tried it a couple of times now.

My reaction - meh! Nothing that special, certainly no different than slurping down any other caffeinated beverage.

Not really worth the expense -- I can get caffeine and B vitamins a lot cheaper, in something that doesn't taste quite so nasty going down (it's not the worst thing in the world, but not the best tasting, either).

Yeah, it's probably that "3 or 4" that does it. Denninmi Mar 2012 #2

when he was drinking these. OMG, it was like crack for him and he kept 2-3 boxes in his desk. Of course, where a normal person would have 1, he'd have 3 or 4 just between breakfast and lunch. He wanted me to try one, but I told him I had to watch my BP and didn't want to risk it making me feel lousy or send me to the docs with heart palpitations.

Going into a meeting with him after he'd had his morning 'dose' was unreal. You could visibly see his hands shaking, he'd talk a mile a minute and he'd be bouncing his leg. He reacted the same way drinking Jolt.

One night, years ago when I was at Michigan State, I had a big test to cram for, and, being a typical procrastinating college student, had blown off studying for as long as possible. So, I bought myself a case of Mt. Dew and decided I was going to stay awake, study all night, take the test (which was early AM, like 8:30 IIRC). So, I drank almost the entire case (probably 12 pack, can't remember that part) in about an hour and a half.

I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. It was NOT a pleasant feeling.

Didn't do that again, let me tell you. A little caffeine is ok, but too much and I feel funny.

Reminds me of the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer was offered and accepted unlimited free cafe lattes for his lawsuit against the coffee chain, and was drinking them non-stop and got wired beyond control.

When the alarm goes off, I drink it, hit the snooze button - twice - and enjoy the gradual awakening.......

a 4th-grade teacher here in Texas, says that "5-Hour Energy" works as advertised. What it doesn't do (and they don't advertise this, either) is give her "5-Hour Motivation"

Oh yeah, she says it also tastes absolutely horrid and if you drink it out of the bottle, with that tiny opening, can't just slam it back. Pour it into a glass and slam it to avoid the bad taste.
