I went there last week, looking for a coat. I didnt find one.
They have some good stuff, dont get me wrong. But its
too much. Sensory overload. Too many choices (of course, many of them may not be available in the right size, etc.) Its kind of too much of everything.
I don't usually like to go to stores and just look for clothes. I usually have an idea of what I want, and want to go straight to it.
I usually shop for clothes at a particular store that isnt in the mall. But some of the stores in the mall have better clothes.
OK, I guess the sensible thing to do is check out the stores little by little, find out which stores have brands I like, and that way I can go directly to the store and look for brand so-and-so
.

(3,998 posts)I'm highly sensitive too, and get overstimulated by too many people, sights, and sounds. Plus the air in malls is weird, lol. I buy pretty much everything online - - clothes, electronics, shoes...all but groceries. I grocery shop on off hours best I can. I DID go to the mall in Dec. with my boyfriend to get him shoes. I had to have a drink when we got home

I hate returning things ordered thru the mail. Pain in the butt!

(60,010 posts)Have to admit, have not had to do the mall thing for a long time now, but did hate it.
Hell, I hate shopping.
If you gotta go to a mall, you can at least look up what stores have what, or look for a specific item, online before you go.
Often just order it online.

(28,394 posts)I hadn't been in the mall for over 6 months, but did venture in for some Christmas shopping. I stick to stores with doors near the handicapped parking places. I'm in and out. One of the benefits of retirement is not needing anything!

(16,334 posts)Same reasons. There's just too much. And the less often you go, the more confusing it is when you go back.

(46,739 posts)Especially the outdoor ones. Get a map of the place and know what you want to find. Park and go straight to that store. There's very little money spent on lights and distracting show windows in an outlet mall.
Prices are very good, too.

(34,136 posts)For their appliance sale. I was buying appliances for my new house and wanted the 20% off - plus I got a $500 rebate on two of them. I'd done most of my shopping and price comparison online and even had a competitor's bid that got me additional money off the appliances.
I just never liked malls and hate going in them. Since most of the department stores require you enter through the cosmetics and perfume sections, until Zyrtec was developed I could not even enter those stores or go close to their entrances.
Do online shopping - and if the stores don't offer that, then skip them.
Here many of the department stores have moved out of the malls and have stand alone stores - Kohls and Bealls are two that I see.

Look at the latest electronics and sometimes even eat at a mall shop.

(17,055 posts)everyone can order from the place they want. Our malls have really good food courts with plenty of places to chose from.

(22,000 posts)How old are you? I'm just curious because it sounds like you are much younger than I am (almost 44). I feel the same exact way though. And it does kind of make you feel like that cranky old guy doesn't it? lol

(22,000 posts)and for clothes **** no! Shopping for clothes drive me nuts. I usually do all of mine when I go home every couple of years and then haul my clothes back with me to Korea (because Koreans are so tiny and skinny nothing here fits me). Even Costco, which I LOVE to go to I race through that place with my shopping cart like I'm in the Indy 500. Get in, get out, get gone!

Last time I was in a mall was 25 years ago.
although the best mall-type place that isn't really a mall is Thornes Market in Northampton MA.
Old brick building, three floors, wooden floors, very cozy with lots of really neat little stores and a parking garage right next door to the rear entrance.
It's a must-see for anyone visiting in the area.
