This is the day I have waited for for six months....

It is snowing, I'm sitting here watching the birds and making a pot of soup. And I have nowhere to go! (Schools are closed anyhow, but I don't have to make the day up in April!)

Retirement is the greatest thing ever.

I know what you mean, and I entirely agree!

I too am retired and I've never been so happy with my life! I like to say that they're paying me to stay home!

Enjoy your soup, your birds, your FREEDOM!

I will!

I was very fortunate to have a job with a good retirement plan (teaching). I am counting my blessings!

on all counts!

Now that I bought a snow shovel, we will probably never get snow again!

Enjoy your time!

We said it was our "insurance policy." Maybe you can place your shovel on the front porch to ward off any snow flakes!

This was our first real snow of the winter. December was pretty much snow-free. I hope we don't have to pay for that way into March!

I am retired also, but seems like every time it snows I have an appointment. So I didn't have the pleasure of the pleasure of watching the snow.

Before I retired, my job involved driving between several schools. Last year's winter was terrible here and that was "it" for me. I had had enough. It is so nice to just be at home now.

I don't see as many as previous years and I'm not refilling the feeders as often. Not sure what is going on this year.

I don't do a bird feeder, just enjoy seeing them around. When I'm out for a walk & they're in trees, I sometimes stop and observe.

What kind of soup did you make?

I'm lucky enough to stay home today (shhh, can't say that too loud. Last time I was braggin' about staying home I worked for the next 3 days.) Maybe I'll crockpot some soup.

I had a bumper crop last summer! I froze "tons" of them. It was so good and fresh-tasting.

I still don't have many birds, though. Just a few sparrows, juncos and mourning doves. One bluejay and a pair of cardinals. An occasional chickadee, a nuthatch and one downy woodpecker. I am only refilling the feeders every 2- 3 days. Seems down from previous years.

There is still a good variety of birds just not as many of 'em. The heated birdbath is working but half frozen. I thought that was the reason for missing birds today. The backyard bunnies didn't show up for breakfast. Where has all the wildlife I was feeding last year gone?

I miss having a vegetable garden. This year I'll start more containers of tomatoes. I haven't figured out the best growing spots here yet. All I know for sure is my food won't be grown in this dirt.
