What do we notice about this thread?
Calm, cool CONVERSATIONS & DEBATES.
No name calling, no point scoring.
I came to DU around 2002 or 2003 and lurked for years then basically forgot about the place...
I remember the conversations were more like the linked one above...mutual respect and honesty were the norm, not just a reply with a ROFL smilie and a bunch of passive aggressive replies. People getting to know one another, ideas being tossed around, etc.
This thread gives me hope.

Very enlightening! They even disagreed on marriage equality with no animus.
