This was a promo by a maker of headsets. It's all film editing.
I did use this do drive a somewhat open-ended classroom experiment - could your cell phone pop popcorn? I had students figure out how much energy was in their batteries, how much energy it takes to pop a kernel (based on moisture content and the energy needed to boil water), etc.
