I got the results of my sleep test back.

It turns out that I have a mild case of sleep apnea. I don't have the results in front of me, but I do remember that I had an average oxygen saturation level of 92% and I stopped breathing twice. The doctor described it as partial obstruction. Normal oxygen saturation levels are over 96% from what I can gather. Mine dropped to 79% at one point. It's enough that I have to wear a CPAP machine when I sleep.

Supposedly, I will feel a lot better once I start treatment, but I don't really feel bad now. We'll see.

It certainly could have been worse, a lot worse.

I suspect that once you get used to the apparatus, you'll feel better. And you will sleep better too.

Thanks for letting us know!

I was diagnosed with a mild case as well.

I was given the option of:
- mask
- mouthpiece
- throat surgery

I've been using a CPAP machine since October. I wasn't sure how effective it would be. Now, I don't have the urge to take a late afternoon nap after work. Most nights I can get by with one fewer hour of sleep.

for the ex, Cpap mask made a huge difference. When you get fitted, make sure you get one that can be easily taken apart so you can clean the water wells, so no funky/nasty stuff can grow. Cleaning the face mask and air tube is easy.
