Here’s how alike “Stay With Me” and “I Won’t Back Down” really are

http://www.avclub.com/article/heres-how-alike-stay-me-and-i-wont-back-down-reall-214397?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=LinkPreview:1 efault

Everyone already knew that Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” and Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” sounded similar. (Hell, that’s probably why Smith ponied up and gave both Petty and Jeff Lynne songwriting credit yesterday.) But a YouTube clip that’s been making the rounds really drives that message home. User Envanligfjant originally posted the comparison clip last summer but has really gotten a lot of traction out of it over the past few days, when everyone’s been using his really clear illustration of the songs’ similarities to prove how right they already knew they were. Listen to it below and validate yourself all over again.

I'm not a Sam Smith fan. but I love Tom Petty.

I can't remember the name of my favorite song of his...but it's something about changing the tracks of the train, changing the phone number etc. Great break up song lol.

It would help if she didn't whine, but apparently country singers tend to do that.

Petty's cover is pretty good, but like a lot of his covers, it's a bit too close to the original.

But seriously, this is really Heartbreaking.

No, really seriously, I just saw a cool Tom Petty/Heartbreakers bio on the television machine. I didn't know that somebody burned down his house!
